When did Valentine's day get its name?

Towards the end of the 1500s, “valentine” was being used to describe a passionate lover in love songs and poems. Afterward, The Young Man’s Valentine Writer book gained popularity among lovers across England during the 18th century setting up for what would become one of mankind’s most renowned holidays -st Valentine’s Day! The tradition continued through the middle ages until it was fully realized in the 19th century. The first mass produced valentines card was created by Esther Howland in 1847.

Is Valentine's Day a Public Holiday?

Valentine’s Day is not a public holiday. Businesses have normal opening hours in most countries. However, some restaurants and stores may be open or closed depending on local customs. Public transit systems run to their normal schedules. Restaurants may be busier than usual as many people go out for an evening with their spouse or partner. Some small businesses and restaurants offer special discounts or brunches on Valentine’s Day. It is a good idea to call ahead to confirm hours and availability. With some planning, Valentine’s Day can be celebrated annually with a memorable experience for you and your loved one.

Who celebrates Valentine's Day?

Valentine’s Day is celebrated by people all over the world. It is primarily associated with romantic love and couples often exchange gifts or cards as a way to express their affection for each other. Valentine’s Day can also be celebrated by families, friends, school children, and even co-workers, who may show appreciation for each other through acts of kindness, such as sending flowers or taking someone out for a special meal.

Why Cupid is the Symbol of Valentine's Day?

The story of Cupid, the Roman god of love and affection, is believed to be behind why he is the symbol of Valentine’s Day. According to ancient legend, Cupid was the son of Venus – the goddess of beauty and desire – and Mars – the god of war. He carried a bow and arrow and used them to shoot arrows of love at unsuspecting people, causing them to fall in love.

Saint Valentine’s Day is a special day of love, romance, and celebration. It is an opportunity to show your loved one that they are appreciated and cherished in your life.
